KGF Stands for Kolar Gold Fields. KGF (Kolar Gold Fields) is a place where gold was mined from 1900 to 2001, this place is located in Bangarpet taluk in Kolar District of Karnataka, India.

History Behind the KGF

- Now there was difficulty here owing to large gold mining equipment, and power since such large machines needed energy and there was no electricity in India at that time.
- For this reason, the British established a hydroelectric plant to counter the lack of energy generated by Shivsamundram, which led to India being the first hydroelectric power plant in Asia to generate electricity from Shivsamundram.
