What is the importance of HSN Code?
HSN codes are used internationally to categorize goods and services. In the GST system, goods are classified according to their HSN codes.
As part of the implementation of the Goods and Services Tax, a separate code was created for each item sold so that the tax amount could be clearly identified. Suppose a cycle has a 5% tax rate, but its parts have a 12% tax rate.
HSN codes are used to determine the correct GST rate and classification of every item sold under the GST regime. Codes can be 2 digits, 4 digits, 6 digits, or 8 digits long.
