The Full Form of AIEEE: All India Engineering Entrance Examination

AIEEE Stands for All India Engineering Entrance Examination. The AIEEE is a national-level entrance examination conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) for admission to undergraduate engineering and architecture courses at IIITs, NITs, and other centrally funded technical institutions. Now AIEEE is known as JEE Mains (Joint Entrance Examination – Main)

The AIEEE is one of the most popular engineering entrance exams in India. Every year, around 1.5 million students appear for the exam.

The exam comprises two parts – Paper 1 and Paper 2. Paper 1 is for students who want to pursue engineering programs while Paper 2 is for students who want to pursue architecture programs.

AIEEE Exam eligibility

The AIEEE is a highly competitive exam and the students who want to get into the top engineering programs need to score high marks on the exam.

The students who want to get into the top programs also need to clear the cut-off marks set by the respective colleges.

  • Citizenship- The candidate must be an Indian citizen.
  • Educational Qualification
  1. 10+2 or equivalent from a recognized board or university with 50% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics subjects.
  2. Students who are studying in 10+2 with the above subjects can apply for the exam.
  • Age Limit- Candidate age should be 16 to 24 years.

AIEEE Entrance Exam Pattern

There are two papers in AIEEE (JEE Mains)—Paper I and Paper II. There is Frist paper for B.E/B. Techs and another for B. Arch/B. Plannings. and The candidates can apply for both papers.

  • Paper I (B. E/ B. Tech) – The subjects that are compulsory for this examination are Physics & Mathematics and the optional subjects as – Bio-Technology/ Chemistry/ Biology/ Computer Science.
