The Full Form of ADSL: Asymmetric Digital Subscriber Line

ADSL Stands for Asymmetric Digital Subscriber Line. Asymmetric Digital Subscriber Line (ADSL) is the most widely used digital broadband technology, providing high-speed data transmission over existing analog telephone lines.

An ADSL modem converts digital data from your computer or other communication devices into an electrical signal that can be sent over the telephone line, guided by the telephone line’s existing technology and connectors.

To allow this new ‘voice’ traffic to run over your existing phone line and not disrupt existing phone conversations, ADSL assigns a separate part of your existing bandwidth to carry ‘voice’ traffic.
